This past weekend I completed a Bristol to London bike ride with fellow Softwirians organised by Action100. It was definitely the hardest ride I have completed because of the fact I was in a group needing to keep up a good pace all the way to the finish. Riding alone allows you to go at your own pace, but when in a chain gang you have to hold up your end of the bargain which means pushing yourself a lot more. We split off into a group of 5 (with one of us always dropping off at the sight of a hill) and really pushed it over the mostly flat course. Completing the 117 mile ride in 5 hours and 55 minutes of cycling, with an additional 2 hours of stops for lunch and breaks. They did pick up a nice photo of me with both hands in the air below:

Excuse the photo – I believe we should be buying them shortly!

I have also been working on the telecoms project previously mentioned. Unfortunately our supplier of the mobile numbers and infrastructure have shown some financial troubles and we have spent about 2 months full time looking to take them over. However with our time being precious; the returns not being secure or large enough; and a significant amount of cash investment needed to cover the debts; we have decided not to go ahead with the project.

I have however got a few other projects on the go. One being a restaurant startup website; another an event management system using QR codes that I am writing in php; and another piece of consultancy for an invitation company.

There may also be an opportunity to run a startup recruitment website, but discussions are still in early stages.

I am also looking to work on another mobile game, but again it is in early stages. It will likely be for the iPhone again too using cocos2d.

All very exciting and always looking for more pieces of work in whatever software languages are needed!
